LiDAR
LiDAR & 3D Scanning
LiDAR technology has fundamentally changed what is possible in geospatial data collection. Where traditional survey methods capture individual measured points, LiDAR captures entire environments in dense, precise 3D point clouds — delivering spatial data at a speed, density, and accuracy that would be impossible to achieve through conventional means alone. From corridor mapping and urban modelling to forestry assessment, infrastructure inspection, and large-scale topographic surveys, LiDAR is now an essential tool for geomatics professionals working at the leading edge of the industry.
Geomatics Gear’s LiDAR category features a complete lineup of South Instrument SZT-series mobile laser scanning systems, covering the full range from economical entry-level platforms to high-performance systems capable of the most demanding professional mapping applications. All four systems in this lineup are multi-platform, integrating with UAVs, SUVs, ATVs, helicopters, and vessels to suit the full variety of environments and project types that geomatics professionals encounter.
The LiDAR SZT-V100 is the most accessible system in the lineup — extremely lightweight at under 1.5 kg, built around the proven Velodyne VLP-16 16-channel laser scanner, and delivering absolute accuracy down to 10 cm. With IP67 environmental protection and compatibility with UAV and vehicle platforms, it’s an economical entry point into professional mobile LiDAR without sacrificing the fundamentals.
Stepping up, the LiDAR SZT-V200 builds on the V-series platform with enhanced capability for more demanding project requirements, bridging the gap between the entry-level V100 and the premium R-series systems.
The LiDAR SZT-R250 brings serious performance to UAV and mobile vehicle applications. Weighing just 2.1 kg and built around the RIEGL miniVUX-1UAV scanner, it delivers absolute accuracy down to 5 cm at 50 metres, captures up to 100,000 measurements per second, and features a full 360-degree field of view — all with up to 5 echoes per laser shot for superior performance in vegetated environments.
For the most demanding large-area and high-altitude applications, the LiDAR SZT-R1000 is the flagship of the lineup. With a working range of up to 920 metres, a 330-degree field of view, point cloud density up to 550,000 points per second, and accuracy control down to 5 mm — sufficient for 1:500 scale mapping — this is a helicopter, SUV, ATV, and vessel-compatible system built for projects where performance cannot be compromised.
Whether you are configuring your first UAV LiDAR system or upgrading to a high-density scanner for large-scale airborne surveys, Geomatics Gear has the expertise to help you select the right system for your project and budget.
